If you’re in the market for a new condo or loft in Bucktown, keep up to date with the latest news coming out of the real estate market in the area. Bucktown is part of the Logan Square section of Chicago.

Sales of condos and lofts have dropped around Logan Square as a result of difficult market conditions in Chicago. Many buyers are facing difficulty qualifying for a mortgage as banks and lenders tighten requirements.

A total of 179 condos and lofts were sold in Logan Square during the third quarter, a 19 percent drop from the same period last year. It is the lowest total sales for the third quarter that the neighborhood has seen since 2003.

Sellers are facing a slowing market. If you’re selling your property in Logan Square, it will now take you an average of 111 days to find a buyer. This is a 25 percent increase from last year and the longest turnover time that sellers have faced since 1997 in Logan Square.

However, despite slowing sales and an increasing inventory of unsold condos and lofts on the market, prices in the neighborhood continued to climb. The average sales price during the third quarter was 3 percent higher than during the same period last year.

Prices may come down slightly in the short term if demand continues to drop. However, the neighborhood’s popularity should maintain property values in the long term.
