Manchester Lofts

Bucktown has gone from an enclave of artist lofts to a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood offering excellent shopping, nightlife, and restaurants. The neighborhood still preserves its historic roots, and new residents can choose from several great loft and condo developments.

One of the original loft conversions in Bucktown is Manchester Lofts. The building was converted in 1990, and marked the first major project for the up-and-coming neighborhood. These luxury lofts are located at 2035 Charleston Street in the heart of Bucktown.

Buyers can choose from several huge units at Manchester Lofts. One loft currently listed on the market is a two bedroom and two bath unit. The 1,800 square foot unit is priced at $545,000.

Residents of Manchester Lofts enjoy a number of incredible amenities. Kitchens come with a walk-in pantry, appliance package, and granite countertops. Residents enjoy plenty of space to cook and entertain friends at the breakfast bar. The lofts also come with hardwood floors, 12-foot ceilings, and large windows that let in plenty of natural light. A wood burning fireplace is the perfect place to warm up on a cold winter day.

Parking isn’t available at Manchester Lofts, but residents have easy access to permits for street parking and a garage is located nearby.

The Manchester Lofts are located on a quiet tree-lined street minutes from the best shopping, dining, and nightlife in the popular neighborhood. Residents also have easy access to downtown Chicago and the rest of the city via the I-90 and I-94 expressway, located just a couple blocks away.

Commuters will love the quick connections to downtown Chicago via Metra and El connections in the area.

The best shopping in the neighborhood is located along Milwaukee Avenue, the major commercial thoroughfare for Bucktown.

Manchester Lofts are located just across the river from DePaul University, making the development the perfect choice for faculty and students who want to live near campus while enjoying the bohemian lifestyle offered in Bucktown.

If you’re in the market for a new condo or loft in Bucktown, keep up with the latest real estate news coming out of the neighborhood. Bucktown is part of Logan Square, the official Chicago neighborhood that also includes Wicker Park.

Sales in Logan Square have dwindled during the past two years as problems in the mortgage sector has affected major markets around the city. According to the Chicago Association of Realtors, a total of 179 condos and lofts were sold during the third quarter, a 10 percent drop from last year.

As sales have dropped in the neighborhood, the inventory of unsold condos and lofts on the market continues to rise. Condo owners selling their property currently face an average turnover time of 111 days, a 25 percent increase from last year.

Despite the drop in sales and increasing inventory of units on the market, the average sales price in Logan Square rose by three percent. Buyers should beware of getting in the market at the peak. If demand doesn’t pick up in the short term, many sellers may be forced to offer a lower asking price to attract new interest in the area.
