Concerned residents voice concerns over Wrigley development

Residents of Wrigleyville met with developers of a proposed mixed-use development planned for the neighborhood on Wednesday.

The development would be located along Addison Street, between Sheffield and Clark.  Plans call for about 150 apartments and a hotel, which according to some reports would be a Hyatt.

However, residents are concerned that the height of the project, which exceeds current zoning restrictions in the neighborhood, could have a negative effect on the neighborhood.  The development could add further congestion to the neighborhood, which has already seen many new condo projects over the past few years.

The proposed apartments would have floor plans averaging about 800 square feet.  According to the developer, the monthly rent for the units would average around $1,800.  The development would also add parking and retail space to the neighborhood.

The developers will have to work hard to come to a consensus with concerned neighbors.  Wrigley Field is one of the most revered landmarks in Chicago, and the project’s proximity to the stadium is sure to fuel a healthy debate in the weeks to come.
