Condo sales recover in Lincoln Square
Sales of condominiums rebounded during the third quarter in Lincoln Square. According to the Chicago Association of Realtors, a total of 153 condominiums were sold in the area during the third quarter, the highest total for the period in more than 15 years.
Sales were up 20 percent from the same period last year, making Lincoln Square one of just a few Chicago neighborhoods to see an increase in sales.
However, the number of condos for sale in Lincoln Square also climbed during the third quarter. If you are selling your condo in the area, it will now take you 93 days to find a buyer, three days longer than last year.
The increase in demand couldn’t come at a better time for condo owners and developers. Prices were down by more than 5 percent during the third quarter of 2006. The average sales price for condos in Lincoln Square rose by 10 percent, and now stands at $298,861.
If demand continues to rise for Chicago Condos in Lincoln Square, buyers may not see lower prices over the next few months. However, a decline in demand in many other neighborhoods around the city could spill over into Lincoln Square.
